Acting Controller of Royal Customs and Excise

Muhammad Azizil Hakim bin Haji Brahim was appointed as Acting Controller of the Royal Customs and Excise Department, Ministry of Finance on 01st October 2023.

Muhammad Azizil Hakim began his service with the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalamas as an Administrative Officer Trainee in February 2006 at the Public Service Department.

Upon confirmation as an Administrative Officer, he served at the Tutong District Department, Ministry of Home Affairs before being promoted as a ‘Special Grade Administrative Officer’ at the Prime Minister’s Office in July 2008. During the period of 2008-2017, he was placed within several offices and divisions at the Prime Minister’s Office which included the Deputy Minister’s Office, Governance Division, Information and Technology Division and Administration and Corporate Affairs Division.

In March 2017, he was promoted to ‘Senior Administrative Officer’ and was subsequently appointed as Acting Deputy Director of the Government Printing Department, Prime Minister’s Office. In October 2017, he attended the Executive Senior Development Program for Senior Government Official at the University of Brunei Darussalam.

In October 2018, Muhammad Azizil Hakim was appointed as Acting Assistant Director at the Human Resource Develpment and Corporate Affairs Division, Ministry of Finance and Economy. A year later in July 2019, he was appointed as Acting Director of the division before being promoted as Director on 04th July 2024.

He was awarded The Most Honourable Order of Setia Negara Brunei Fourth Class (P.S.B) in July 2026 from His Majesty Sultan dan Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
